Taste sun-kissed, vitamin-rich strawberries!
Strawberry season is finally here!
They are not only delicious but also full of nutrients such as vitamin C and fiber.

Thanks to greenhouse farming systems and advanced cultivating technology, there are numerous varieties you can try.

For example, 'Tochiotome' has a good balance of sweet and sour, while the luxury 'Amaou' brand is large and packed with sweetness.

Of course, you can purchase these strawberries at your local supermarket, but the best way to enjoy them is to go strawberry picking.

Head over to Toyofusa Strawberry Farm and pick and eat as many juicy, nutrient-rich fruits as you want.

Early and mid-April in Nanto means it`s sakura season!

The bountiful natural scenery and mountain views here provide a uniquely calm and peaceful atmosphere to enjoy the blooming of these flowers.

Furthermore, sakura trees in Nanto are illuminated in the evening, creating an even more mystical scenery of the flowers in full bloom.

Sakura, the cherry blossom flower, is a key symbol of Japanese culture and source of inspiration for countless poems, songs, and works of art.

The very brief blooming period of the flower is thought to symbolize the incredible beauty and brevity of life.

In this season, the Japanese relax with friends and family by enjoying the breathtaking views of walkways and temples lined with sakura trees.

Only a 2 hour trip from Tokyo to Iiyama from March 14th!
Hokuriku Shinkansen opens on March 14th,
also marking the birth of Nagano’s newest station, Iiyama Station.

Enjoy snow, mountains and village culture, now only a 2 hour trip from Tokyo!
An Activity Centre will open within the Iiyama Shinkansen Station,
so searching and booking various activities, such as trekking, cycling and canoe, can be done right here.

As Iiyama is the town of temples and sweets,
we recommend take some time to wander through the town, as well as enjoying the lush nature.

Cherry Blossom buffs note! Sakura season is late April to early May!

Also in bloom will be Iiyama’s famous yellow fields of Nanohana!

See both blossoms bloom together,
and feast on the scenery you can only experience here!

Engage in drainspotting all over Japan

Ohayou Gozaimasu
Yasu desu.

Don't get too carried away looking down at your smartphone,
take a second look at the nearest manhole you walk by in Japan.
You’re most likely to see a design on the manhole symbolic of the region.

Designs range from flora to fauna, landmarks such as castles, local festivals,
or famous local creatures, such as the mud-skipper, which is eaten in Saga prefecture in Kyushu.

Such aesthetic touches, which also have practical non-slip value for the manholes, have hatched what is now known as “manhole mania” in Japan,
with a substantial female following.
Why not partake in this urban art watching the next time you’re in Japan?
